Serazine can inhibit the release of the neurotransmitter norepinephrine and produce sedation, analgesia, central muscle relaxation and other effects. In addition, the drug has a significant effect on the cardiovascular system, and it has been reported that different routes of administration have different effects on the cardiovascular system. In some species, intravenous or intramuscical injection produces a brief arterial pressure boost followed by a longer period of hypotension and bradycardia, but intravenous injection may significantly raise blood pressure. The drug also has some adverse reactions to the respiratory system of dogs and cats. Low dose has little effect. Sometimes, the number of breaths increases and then decreases and the breathing is too deep. High dose can cause respiratory depression and tidal volume decrease, but arterial oxygen partial pressure change little. The adverse reactions of serazine to cardiovascular system and respiratory system can be ameliorated by intramuscular injection of atropine.
